Fix guide

Fix the mobile viewport tag on your restaurant website

Your site shows up zoomed out on a phone, or it blocks guests from pinching to zoom in on your menu.

Why it matters

The viewport tag tells a phone how wide to draw the page. Missing, the page renders at desktop width and shrinks. Set with user-scalable=no, it stops guests with less-than-perfect eyesight from zooming into your menu.

How to fix it

  1. Copy the tag below.
  2. Replace any existing viewport tag in your <head> — there should only be one.
  3. Never add user-scalable=no or maximum-scale=1.

The code

This is the fix our audit generated for a sample restaurant. Run the audit on your own site and the fix pack fills in your name, address, phone and hours for you. Anything in CAPITALS is a value we couldn’t find — fill it in, never guess.

Where it goes: Replace any existing viewport meta tag in the <head>.
