Search to Table

Fix guide

Restaurant page titles and meta descriptions that get clicks

Your page title and description are the two lines Google shows in search results. If they say "Home" or leave out your town, you are invisible for "tacos near me".

Why it matters

The title is the single strongest on-page signal for what a page is about. The description does not change ranking, but it decides whether someone clicks.

Restaurants win with plain titles: what you serve, the town, your name. Keep the title under about 60 characters and the description under about 155.

How to fix it

  1. Copy the code below and fill in anything in CAPITALS.
  2. Replace the existing <title> and meta description on your homepage — don’t add a second set.
  3. Give every other page its own title (Menu | Your Name, Town) so no two pages share one.

The code

This is the fix our audit generated for a sample restaurant. Run the audit on your own site and the fix pack fills in your name, address, phone and hours for you. Anything in CAPITALS is a value we couldn’t find — fill it in, never guess.

html
<title>Tacos El Puente | tacos in Evansville, IN</title>
<meta name="description" content="Tacos El Puente serves tacos in Evansville, IN. See the full menu, hours, and directions, or order online for pickup.">
<link rel="canonical" href="https://www.tacoselpuente.example/">

Where it goes: Replace the existing <title> and description in the <head> of your homepage.
