How it works

How the restaurant website audit works

180 checks, 17 weighted categories, and a score you can recalculate by hand. Nothing about it is a black box.

What happens when you press the button

  1. We read your homepage and find up to four more pages from your navigation: menu, contact, ordering, and about.
  2. We load each page in a real browser, the way a phone does, so content built with JavaScript counts. Many restaurant sites look nearly empty to a simple crawler.
  3. We ask Google how fast your site is on a phone, using PageSpeed Insights.
  4. We check your Google listing and compare its hours, phone and address with your site.
  5. We run all 180 checks, score them, and write the report and the fixes.

Most audits finish in about a minute. If one step fails — a slow site, a blocked request — its checks are marked “not checked” and don’t count against you.

The categories and their weights

Each category is weighted by how much it affects whether a guest finds you and orders. The weights add up to 100.

The formula

Every check has a severity. A pass earns its full points, “needs work” earns half, a fail earns nothing, and anything we couldn’t check is left out entirely.

category score = 100 × points earned ÷ points possible
site score = Σ (category score × category weight) ÷ 100

Grades: A is 90 and up, B 80–89, C 70–79, D 60–69, F below 60. Most independent restaurant sites land in the 40s and 50s. A well-built one scores 85 or better.

What we never do

  • We never change your site. We read public pages, the same way Google does.
  • We never invent facts. Fixes use only what we found on your site. Anything we couldn’t find shows up as a placeholder like REPLACE_ME_PHONE, and a filter throws out any AI-written fix containing an address or phone number that doesn’t match your site.
  • We don’t claim to know your ranking. Where you rank depends on things no free tool can see. This measures how well your site is built to be found and used — the part you control.
  • We don’t hammer your site. We check a sample of links (up to 50 on your site and 20 elsewhere), and each address is audited at most once a day.
